AGING
ESSENTIAL OILS TO
COMBAT WRINKLES
You can use any of these oils on their own
or make combinations of two or more, to suit your needs. Use the oils in a
bath, as a face oil, or body rub, and do remember to treat the bit you don't
see in the mirror as often as the face--your body!
Because everyone's skin
regenerates at a different rate, allow at least thirty days before expecting
to see outward signs of improvement.
Below is anti wrinkle facial
treatment oils for various age groups. Use them every night on the face and,
if you wish, on the neck and chest, as far as the collar
bone.

Cleansers
RICH CLEANSING
CREAM
Using the Bain Marie method (see method at bottom of this page), melt the beeswax, lanolin, and vegetable oils and stir well. Then add the essential oils and take the pot off the heat and slowly add in the water. Mix in a blender (or whisk) until the mixture is cold.
COCOA BUTTER CLEANSER

add:
Tonics and
Astringents
Tonics stimulate the
circulation, reduce oiliness, and help refine open pures and unevenly textured
skin. They are usually applied after cleansing to ensure complete removal of
any residue left from creams or lotions. A skin tonic has a much milder effect
than an astringent and should also refine the skin texture. An astringent, on
the other hand, is stimulation to the whole skin system but can be drying and
should only be used on oily or open-pored types of skin. Astringents should
not be used on blemishes or acne as they can exacerbate the condition.
The
method of making the following tonics and astringents is the same for all. Put
all the ingredients in a bottle and shake well. Leave for twenty-four hours
then pass through a paper coffee filter. Rebottle and use as needed after
cleansing, or just to freshen up.
Rosewater provides the perfect base for a skin tonic, as does
any infusion of flowers or herbs. Cornflower, for example, is a decongestant
and anti-inflammatory that is soothing to both skin and eyelids.
Face Oils
NORMAL SKIN
Diluted in 2 tablespoons almond or
hazelnut oil. This moisturizer should be applied to damp skin. Massage it
in and then dab the face with a tissue until no excess oil shows on the
tissue.
DRY TO NORMAL SKIN
Dilute in 2 tablespoons of the base vegetable oil to which you have added 10 drops of evening primrose and 2 drops of carrot oil.
Use in the same way as you would your usual moisturizing
cream or lotion.
OILY TO NORMAL SKIN
 |
Juniper- 8 drops
Geranium- 10 drops
Lemon- 10 drops
Rosemary- 2 drops |
Dilute in 2 tablespoons hazelnut
oil to which you have added 10 drops of carrot oil.
Massage the oil in and
then dab the face with a tissue until no excess oil shows there. Treat
combination skin as normal skin, and if oily patches are a problem use the
face oils for oily skin on those areas.
Problem Skin
BROKEN
CAPILLARIES
When making your own
treatment oil or following the formula below, mix the essential oils together
first and allow them to interact with each other to make a synergistic effect
before adding to the base oil:
Parsley- 20 drops
Geranium- 10 drops
Cypress- 5 drops |
Dilute in 2 tablespoons almond oil
to which you have added 10 drops of evening primrose.
WHITEHEADS
Diluted in 1 tablespoon
vegetable oil. Use a very small amount of the oil to massage the whitehead
twice a day, in the morning and at night. This will allow the whitehead to be
reabsorbed by the body.
LIP GLOSS ESSENTIAL
OILS
Use the Bain Marie method, melt the beeswax and then add the almond oil, stirring all the time. Then add the jojoba oil, carrot oil, and vitamin E, and stir again. Finally, mix in 10 drops of your chosen essential oils taken from the list above, or following these recommendation:
FOR DRY, CRACKED LIPS
FOR SORE
LIPS
If you have a cold sore
around the lips, make up the following synergistic blend and add 20 drops to
the lip gloss base, and use three times a day. Alternatively, dip a cotton
ball into water, put 1 drop of the synergistic blend onto it and apply it
directly to the cold sore once a day:
HERPES COLD SORE SYNERGISTIC
BLEND
BAIN-MARIE METHOD-- Place a heat-proof bowl in
a partly filled pot of water. As the water in the pot will need to be boiled
to generate the heat required to transform your ingredients. The bowl must be
large enough not to tip over when the boiling water starts to jump around. You
don't need much water in the pot-- just enough to maintain the required
temperature and not so much that the water will flood over the edge of the
bowl and ruin your blend.
